the city of Deadwood, Connecticut is famous for a lot of things.

you might have heard of its busy nightlife, its promising bands, its exceptional beer breweries, its yearly talent contests or maybe even the beautiful countryside that surrounds it. but you will definitely have heard of its prestigious boarding school, Heart Lake. upper class teenagers from all over the world are sent to Heart Lake by their rich parents, expecting to spend the next four years of their life studying latin. and they will - when they're not squandering their inheritances on drugs and alcohol. the teachers turn a blind eye as long as the kids still get the right grades - if they don't, they're expelled, but who needs to worry about school when you have more than enough money to bribe the examiners? as they say, money talks.

as Heart Lake, the city's pride and glory, was trying to build up its reputation once again, Deadwood's public high school burnt down. now the poorer students are mixed in with the rich - a sure recipe for trouble - and Deadwood's resident gang of rebels are the prime arson suspects. this is unsurprising, seeing as they're blamed for everything from torched cars to random violence. but what if it's not them? what if it's someone totally unexpected? everyone's pointing fingers; it's only too easy for innocents to be corrupted, only too easy for gossip girls to stir up trouble by spreading rumours and and turning friends against each other. even the locals and university students are finding themselves caught up in webs of deception. they're all asking themselves: in a city filled with secrets and lies, who can you turn to?
