With Edward gone for the day, Bella had figured she’d go see Alice after work. Which she would be done with at 3. She didn’t like it when Edward was away from her, but she knew they couldn’t constantly be in each other’s company. Plus, with work, she knew that was even more impossible. Though she didn’t always work long hours and she didn’t work every day, Edward sometimes picked her up and dropped her off. Other time she drove herself there and back, like she would be doing today. It wasn’t a long drive, especially in the tank of a car she still had. There were times she really missed her truck, and sometimes she forgot that the car was so sensitive that even with the tiniest nudge of her foot on the gas and the car would go flying. She hated that.
After finally getting off of work, Bella had gone back home to get freshened up and eat something before she headed over to the Cullen household. Of course she wasn’t aware that Alice wasn’t home currently and was out shopping with Rosalie, so she got back into her car and drove the few minutes it took to get to the house. Edward and a few others had made a make-shift road for her to drive on, as she could not make it through the woods like they could. Once there she turned the ignition off and pocketed her keys before getting out and heading up to the front door. Ringing the door bell she then waited for someone to answer.

Alice was a constant source of entertainment and comfort. Though it was nice she was having a girly day out it was nice when she was around also. But today he had not been dragged around every store, and while he didn't mind most of the time - it's difficult to fight someone who knows you've already decided to go - he wasn't supposed to be around. Of course they didn't alwyas go off to college, sometimes preferring to stay at home with the family. Bella was an appropriate reason to stick around. She was Alice's best friend and it wasn't often you made one of those that invovled a heartbeat. While Jasper disproved of a relationship with humans he also figured it may be good for him to try viewing them differently again. Perhaps it would help with his diet?
Jasper had been upstairs. Emmett was around, probably in the garage, doing something or other. Either that or he was watching reruns again judging by his amusement. Jasper had made his own entertainment by settling down with a book on the ancient culture of the romans. he always had liked all aspects of history and seeing things from a vampire perspective and reading about them from a human one was always intruiging. He may have read the book several times over but he hadn't touched it in at least 30 years. Of course vampire memories are sharp and clear. Centuries could pass before something was forgotten, and often not even then.
Alice would probably return with back fulls of clothes which meant double the usual amount since Rose was with her. He'd probably end up with another suit or two but since Bella was her new doll it was doubtful it would be quite as much or as experimental as it had been in the past. She really was a terryfing little monster when you dared doubt her shopping skills or attempted to refuse to participate. She either had that exprression on her face saying 'you will succumb' or that cheeky little grin that said she already knew you had now admit it!
The door bell rang. Interesting. Who would ring the door but Isabella? It seemed like the only appropriate explaination. After all family would not and no one ever came up here. Bella was one of the few who knew it existed and the rest were vampires. Hmm. Emmett hadn't moved. Jasper shot down the stairs, half way down before walking at a normal speed for a human. "Bella," Jasper greeted with caramel eyes. "Alice is out shopping with Rosalie but you are welcome to stay if you wish. Emmett is also available," Jasper said. It was doubtful she wished to speak with him. He was seemingly cold to the human, distant. Emmett was so much warmer and funner. He was the obvious choice to the vampire.
